Happy February, Everyone!

Exciting things happening this month: Um...my birthday? Valentine's Day? Chinese New Year? No, wait, that last one was January 23rd... Ah well.

Books & Stories that have recently come out:

Subversion - a trade paperback (larger sized) anthology from Crossed Genres, with my short story "The Hero Industry"; How To Write Hot Sex: Tips from Multi-Published Erotic Romance Authors - edited by Shoshanna Evers, with my essay "Biology: The Good, The Bad, & The Sex Scene" among many other good tips from other authors. "The Knot" - first short story of the Vulland Chronicles and "Contemplations" - the second short story, posted for free right here on my website (yay!) Click here for the Vulland Chronicles.; ...And don't forget all the books of the Sons of Destiny series, the Philip K. Dick Award-nominated A Soldier's Duty, and various short stories in both my own and various multi-author anthologies--click on the menu tree to the left to find a good story!

Books & Stories that will be coming out soon:

Space Battles - with the short story "The Joystick War" (a story set in the Theirs Not To Reason Why universe), released this April from Flying Pen Press in trade paperback; The Shifter - a new paranormal romance from Berkley set in the Sons of Destiny universe shortly after The Shifting Plains, releasing at the start of May in trade paperback; The Mage - book 8 in the Sons of Destiny Series from Berkley, re-released (finally!) in mass market at the start of June; Theirs Not To Reason Why: An Officer's Duty - book 2 in the military science fiction series Theirs Not To Reason Why, released in mass market paperback at the end of July from Ace Books.

My next public appearance (--Zomg I actually have to leave my house? eek!) will be...:

Norwescon, April 5th-8th, 2012, DoubleTree, Seatac, WA. This is one of the biggest regional science fiction & fantasy conventions in the States, and a local favorite of mine, as well as the host convention for the Philip K. Dick Awards...so yes, I will definitely be there Thursday through Sunday...and I will definitely be there Friday night, 7-9pm, since the attending nominees are usually invited to give a reading from their nominated works to an audience of hundreds. (Even a seasoned public performer like me is going to eek at the thought of that big an audience, eek!)

...Remember, if you are eligible to nominate a favorite science fiction book or story, movie or show for the Hugo Awards (or the Nebula Awards, or whatever awards), please do so. Authors get paid a lot less than most people think we get paid, but the accolades and admiration of our readers is a huge chunk of the thrill we get when we entertain you, because that lets us know we did indeed entertain a lot of you out there. No royalty cheque can compensate for the feeling of someone telling us, directly or indirectly, "You wrote a really good story, this year!" Make sure you get out and vote...and yes, vote for lots of others as well as for me if you like our works.

I'll do my best to keep entertaining you in the meantime,
~Jean
