Wow, November already? So much is happening this month: We only have thirty-mumble more days until The Flame will be released. That means the character bios, the quotes, and the Sneak Preview will be appearing soon! Things are beginning to pick up the pace with this novel; it can be read in any order without confusing the reader too much, just like the previous six...but you'll definitely want to read the first seven before the last one is released. There is a lot of information buried in all those pages, a sort of treasure-hunt of loose plot-threads that get tied up by the end of The Mage
This is also National Novel Writing Month; feel free to Google it for more details, but basically it's a challenge to all writers and would-be writers to plunk their butts down on November 1st and write, write, write until November 30th, with the official goal being to write 50,000 words in those 30 days. 1,667 words per day, on average. (I'm insane, I set my goal at 100k. Haven't made it yet, alas.) That's right, no more excuses, no more putting it off, no stopping to revise, and no more saying 'someday...', just plunking yet butt down and writing like mad to churn out that novel you always wanted to write! (Or trio of stories, or whatever your goal might be.)
For me, this is my Motivation Month. Time to cattle-prod the plot-bunnies! This is particularly good timing as I have 2 contracts in the works, which means I have to prod the dickens out of those bunnies. (Note to self, buy extra batteries.) Don't worry about the Sons of Destiny series; the copy-edited draft of The Mage has already been worked over and handed back to my editor, and it'll be polished up one last time before being put in the printer's queue for release this next April. Everything's set for you to enjoy the wrap-up of that series...and now you know there'll be more books coming out of me, too.
Alas, these words right here don't count towards my own word-count goals--it has to be in an actual story to qualify--so I'd better stop admiring all the gorgeous fall foliage outside, the lovely work of my web-minister on my computer screen, and get cracking on prodding those poor little plot-bunnies in the nearest .doc file.
Enjoy autumn while it lasts; winter is coming soon!
